Virtua Fighter 4:

Aggh, call me old fashioned. But I really can't stand this game. If anything, this is just not what the hype makes of it. I had an awful time with the controls, even for using a PSX controller, and the moves seemed very slow. There didn't seem to be much more involved than blocking and throwing, but the analog sure did seem stiff. But all of that stuff was just all around average, that had nothing to do with what really turned me off about Sega's new fighting game. The jaggies in this title are absolutely hideous, from the top to the bottom, its like they tried to hide every last one of them by increasing the resolution and lighting infinitely so they literally beamed at the seams off the screen. If anything, this game was the clincher that made me stay as far away as possible from sony's new toy. What was even more horrifying is the fact that each individual jaggy is made incredibly bright, to the point it could almost catch on fire. The way they constantly turn up the lighting effect to hide the jaggies is unbearable, and when in front of the screen watching at a full 40 FPS or above I think I lost my lunch. There is just no way this games graphics compare to Soul Calibur. Dead or Alive 3 is the mona lisa compared to this. But graphics definitely were not what this game is about. That said there are some incredibly beautiful women to gaze at in every means of the word, though they look somewhat disfigured, with triangle pieces jutting out of their body. They aren't a wonder to behold like DOA3's women which are fully polygonal and geometric. But they get the job pretty closely done. Overall the feeling of the gameplay is very much about blocking and throwing, almost identical to Dead or Alive 3. I don't see anything really going above and beyond here. The cage matches look like something out of the WWF, which is almost strange. There's nothing really different about the fights, this game is structured just like any other fighter. Oh well, overall I wasn't that impressed with this game. But what I'd like to have this post be about is what additions and makeovers the fans would like with this game when it comes to XBOX.

Personally for me, I could see the entire graphical model reworked from the ground up for the monstrosity of technology the XBOX is, and really make this game look good. Damn good. This game could look as nice or better than Dead or Alive 3 if Sega really goes all out and not just make this another port. Fully polygonal women with round edges and beautiful line draws just like Dead or Alive 3 or Tekken 4, that would surely increase its punch factor. Besides all the graphics, more modes like a tag team match would be nice along with more characters. I don't think they could tweak the fighting system that much. My hope would be is that they ditch the control pad on XBOX and go in favor of the beautiful analog control it has to offer, and use as many buttons on the controller as they possibly can, to make the mastery of this game shine. I doubt they'll do it however. Mostly I would move towards a real, official graphical jump complete with beautiful fully polygonal characters and environments, that is where the majority of this game will truely blossom.§Ù
